The Beginning of New Adventure: Part 2 (Moving to South Korea)

I'll spare you the boring details about packing and storing all my stuff, which I have WAY too much of by the way. Suffice it to say I only brought about 5% of the stuff I own with me. ~~~~~ Six weeks from the time I applied for the job, I was leaving for South Korea. On March 10, 2018, I got on a plane. On March 11, I set foot in South Korea for the first time. (Side note: I was super lucky on both planes I took. I sat next to a couple really cool people :) ~~~~~ I was instructed to call my recruiter from the airport, to ensure I had landed safely, and then take a bus from the airport to my city. Short story: I tried using a kiosk to get my bus ticket but they didn't have the location I needed on the list, even though the stop for it was literally right outside the door by the kiosk... A nice gentleman saw I was struggling and helped me, but he also couldn't find my destination, even in Korean lol. Then another woman, a lovely Korean girl, happened to be looking for the same city, but also couldn't find it on the kiosk, even though it was also on the map next to the kiosks lol. So they helped me find the outdoor ticket counter where we could buy from a person instead of a machine. I got my ticket, without needing help speaking Korean I might add, and I now just had to wait about 40 minutes for my bus. ~~~~~ The bus took a lot less time than I expected. I was expecting an hour and a half just to get to my city, but it was only about 45 minutes. When I got to Seongnam, my new boss met me at the station and drove me to my new place. (Side note: getting two large suitcases weighing close to 70 pounds a piece into a car and then out of the car and then up a hill and up two flights of very steep stairs is no easy task.) I finally got to my new apartment at about 8:30 pm Korean time. I left Texas at 6 am... the previous day :) Total travel time was about 20 hours? I think? All I really know is that I had been awake for 30 hours by the time I fell asleep that night. ~~~~~ After arriving at my apartment, the other foreign teacher (who I will refer to as S) had come to help get my stuff up the stairs, my boss and S took me to a little market at the end of my street to get water, some fruit, and a few basic groceries. Then S and I went back to my place and he ordered some chicken for us. The delivery man didn't come up and knock on the door, he just yelled up at the window instead. Welcome to Korea :) ~~~~~ Now I will share photos of my new place and some of the area I live in :) Enjoy! (Just kidding, technical difficulties have ensued. I will be moving to another blogging site in order to be able to share photos after this post. Apologies!)
